ABOUT

Hi, welcome to our Common Ground!

My name is Francisco Barrocas Lourido. I'm a planner, architect and researcher but also a photographer, musician and wannabe farmer.
I was born in Lisbon, in 1980, but I grew-up in Arraiolos, a village in the Alentejo region in the south of Portugal, and that made all the difference for me. I consider myself as an Alentejano who has lived in many places and, because of that, had several different experiences.

I got my degree from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon in Architecture of Urban and Territorial Planning, in 2007. Before, I tried to be an Informatics Engineer and went to the University of Évora and the Technical University of Lisbon Institute of Technology  Definitely, it was not for me! I'm currently doing my PhD at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Oporto.

This blog serves as a vehicle to share my thoughts about planning, the city and urbanism in general. The posts can be more or less scientific but all of them are related to that area of knowledge. I hope that in the process of writing and receiving some feedback about it I can learn and we can define more accurately our COMMON GROUND.
